Dr Philip Baron
BChD (Leeds), MFGDP (UK) Principal Dental Surgeon
GDC Number 56027
I qualified at Leeds University Dental School in 1981 and worked in nearby Oswaldtwistle for 7 years.
I bought Antley Villa as a single surgery practice in 1988, and quickly updated it to include 2 surgeries.
I have constantly strived to improve the practice, in 1999 I expanded the practice to 3 surgeries then in 2002 opened another 2 surgeries making 5 surgeries in the practice with a large, friendly, skilled and motivated team behind me.
My aim is for Antley Villa to be the best that it can be and for patients to enjoy their experience here and to benefit from a pleasant and friendly environment.
When I do have free time, I enjoy walking in the lake District with my wife Carol (who is also my Practice Manager).

I came to Antley Villa in the summer of 2008 and have worked in general practice now for 23 years. I have previously worked in practices in Burnley and Blackburn and am enjoying working with the team at Antley Villa.
I qualified as a dentist in 1992 from the Royal London and on graduating, spent 6 months as a resident Oral Surgeon in the same hospital. I met my wife at The Royal London and we moved to her native Lancashire in 1993.
I have a special interest in endodontic treatment (root fillings) and am a member of the British Endodontic Society. Continued study in the field of endodontics has lead to my gaining of a Postgraduate Certificate in 2011 and a Postgraduate Diploma in 2016, both from the University of Chester. I regularly attend postgraduate courses not just in endodontics but also in related subjects such as restorative dentistry.
Since late 2012, I’ve worked using a dental operating microscope, allowing additional precision and accuracy in both diagnosis and treatment. This state of the art piece of equipment also allows direct image capture allowing us to easily show patients exactly what we see in HD clarity, for ease of communication and understanding of their dental conditions.
My wife worked at Antley Villa as a hygienist for several years before further training and is now a Tutor Dental Therapist. We have two young daughters that keep us both busy.
In my little spare time, I am a keen golfer and snooker player and a member of the Institute of Advanced Motorists.

I am originally from Teesside and qualified from The University of Newcastle in 2006. I was married in the same year and moved to my wife's home town of Bolton, where she is now working as a GP.

I have passed the Membership examination for the Dental Faculty of the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh and also the Membership Exam for the Joint Dental Faculties of England. I have also completed a certificate course in Dental Implantology run by Professor Ucer. I am always keen to provide dentistry in the most relaxing and pleasant way possible and as an aid to this have completed a National Certificate Course in Conscious Sedation.
I completed my vocational training in general practice in Bolton and stayed on at the practice; during this time I also worked part time in hospital as a Clinical Assistant in Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery at Salford Royal Hospital, I then worked as a Senior House Officer in Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery in a post which was based in Blackburn Royal Hospital.
We have a son and daughter which keep us very busy and in my free time I enjoy swimming, cycling, running and martial arts. I have trained in several martial arts and hold a 1st Dan black belt in Karate, I have completed several marathons and a full UK Ironman.

I graduated from Sheffield in 2007 and returned home to Lancashire where I undertook my Vocational Training. I have spent the last four years working in a private dental practice in Cleveleys where I have worked hard to develop my skills and knowledge in many aspects of general dentistry in order to provide my patients with the highest level of care I can.
I enjoy the challenges of working in general dental practice and aim to keep up to date with dental matters by reading the dental literature and attending courses where possible.
Outside of dentistry I enjoy spending time with my family and friends and visting different countries. I have recently got married. I am also interested in sport, particularly tennis and football.
